Vocational School Nacala

The Vocational School Nacala, started operating in 1994 running a one year professional training. Since 2001 has been transformed into an Institution of Medium Level Technical Education with the purpose of providing youth access to a professional training according to the needs of the social and economical development of the country. Up to now it has graduated more than 475 professionals.

The Vocational School offers 4 different specializations: (i) Agriculture; (ii) Commerce and Administration; (iii) Construction; and (iv) Tourism and Catering

The education of the youth

The Vocational School Nacala trains students to get basic technical and professional education level in two years.

The basic requirements to be enrolled in this school are: (i) having completed grade 7 and (ii) aged between 15 and 25 years old. At the moment there are two teams: 2007 in 3^rd year and 2008 starting 1^st year.

The Vocational School offers 4 different specializations: (i) Agriculture; (ii) Commerce and Administration; (iii) Civil Construction; and (iv) Tourism and Catering.

Up to now it has graduated more than 475 professionals which are presently working in companies in north and central region of the country. Other graduates are continuing with their studies in higher levels.

Other activities

The agricultural production of this school is more and more profitable in what concerns the school economy, from last year it reached about 2 hectares of land with a maize production, cassava, watering cans and other cultures. The school has a prominent production of animals of small species, kid goats, rabbits and ducks.

Vocational School Nacala has cultural groups that they represent the school in the cultural festivals of the province and of the district. The groups of theater, traditional dance and sing coral are composed by 15 to 20 elements each.

The school promotes sport for youths and it promotes local tournaments among groups of different grades and with the community.

The bangalow - 20 km hiking

I was waiting for this trip to happened since I came here and I heard about this cottages, maintained by volunteers from Oyer´s council and usable by anyone that is a hiking and nature´s lover!

I never thought it would be so tirering but...the efford just desapears from your body when, in the middle of nowhere, after 5 hours of walking, a perfect fairytail bangalow appears and allows you to rest and stay in a cozy and simples environment.

After 5 km...still fresh..:)

Hornsjoe lake...a beauty in the mountains:)

O lago tem uma beleza ímpar, quer seja às 2 da manhã durante o verão, quando a neblina se forma sobre uma superfície gélida ou num pôr-do-sol de Agosto em que nada mais se ouve senão o som dos remos a tocar a água . O estranho céu nórdico espelha os seus tons violeta nas calmas águas e um perfeito postal se ergue à nossa volta.

Into the wild...finally!:)

Depois de tantos meses de trabalho árduo, finalmente a equipa terminou o dinheiro e eu também terminei os meus pontos de estudo:)

Tenho passado os últimos dias a preparar-me para o meu projecto (já vos contei que consegui mudar da Índia para Moçambique? hum..talvez noutro post...), entre comprar mais remédios, algumas coisas de higiene, tomar o resto das vacinas que precisava e iniciar a medicação anti-malárica, comprar uma câmara de vídeo e encontrar programas de edição de imagem.

Fora isto decidi passar estes últimos dias a fazer o que não consegui fazer nestes 6 meses...deliciar-me com a natureza que nos rodeia em Hornsjoe, ir ao lago, fazer uma caminhada nas montanhas, ir até ao bangalow mais próximo, que é mantido gratuitamente pelo concelho de Oyer.
Aqui ficam as fotografias:) Já vos disse que este país é lindo?

A minha companhia também resolveu fazer o mesmo...
e assim estavamos que nem 2 lagartos de sangue-frio a apanhar banhos-de-sol:)

Ganhei o gosto por hiking...e quando terminar o programa já está decidido que irei subir as montanhas romenas:) Espero nunca perder este novo interesse! O mar é lindo mas as montanhas não lhe ficam atrás!

home sweet home and...back to work!

After Tvind, we came back and a couple of days after I went home for vacations with Magda and a guest...mister Bobo went to see our country!

I almost don´t have pictures from that. He was the one always using his D-60 to take the kodak moments. Well I can say it felt very very good to taste again the portuguese food, to see again my places, to hear again my language, to be again with my people!!!

After that 2 weeks, I came back and the lack of money was waiting for me...back to work! I then worked hard, between local cloth colection and Trondheim and truck fillings...and Masha quiting and going home...

I can say that my last weeks of work were tuff but funny, and I had a lot of good momments to remember, from Trondheim, from Trondelag and the small cities around Lilehammer:)

After that week of fundraising and 2 weeks non stop doing Trondheim (this one I want to forget...) we had the summer theater camp in Denmark, Tvind, during 1 week ( more info: http://www.dns-tvind.dk/Article.asp?TxtID=693&SubMenuItemID=167&MenuItemID=30).

(OK agora em português..hoje estou numa de misturar línguas...)

Saímos de Hornsjoe e fomos directos a Oslo onde apanhamos o ferry para a Dinamarca.

Saímos ao final da tarde e chegámos na manhã seguinte!!Tivemos direito a um perfeito pôr-do-sol e uma bela cabine onde deu pra dormir qualquer coisa como 3 ou 4 horas (visto que por esta altura a noite não se punha e o sono teimava em chegar...).

Plea fresquinha saímos já em terras Dinamarquesas onde fui escolhida como conductora do minibus até ao próximo destino: centro de conferência do TG perto de Tvind. Umas 3 horas de viagem e lá chegámos ao sítio onde deu pra gritar de emoção ao rever os nossos colegas de B´ham que entretanto tinham continuado o programa nas diferentes escolas da Dinamarca. Muita gente, boas apresentações, muito muito calor, caras novas e caras conhecidas.

No final do dia lá fomos pra Tvind onde vimos o famoso moinho de vento, o 1º contruído na Dinamarca pelas mãos de voluntários da organização nos anos 70.

Durante os dias subsequentes, ficou a nosso cargo toda a preparação do evento que contaria com mais de 300 pessoas entre alunos das escolas, professores, DI´s, convidados etc, onde estavam incluidos todos os arranjos de catering, decorações de espaços, manutenção de jardins, serving, etc. Foi trabalhoso mas interessante. Sempre dava para ir falando com o meu amigo Alin e ir conhecendo novas pessoas de outras escolas que estavam no nosso grupo de trabalho!

No sábado os nossos colegas lá actuaram. Não foi a melhor peça mas valeu o esforço e empenho e...pessimista como sou contava com bem pior! Tiveram só 2 semanas de ensaio e no final da 1ª o Nerijus teve de nos deixar e voltar para casa...e Gert entrou para decorar uma peça de 2 horas em meia dúzia de dias...eu não faria melhor...sigur!

Pelo meio ainda deu pra nos divertirmos todos juntos no final do dia de trabalho e ficamos a conhecer 2 lagos nos arredores do pinhal que circundava a escola. Primeiro às 2 da matina com o Alin e depois numa tarde com 1 dos alunos de DNS da escola.
